Wild Tomorrow Experiences
September 22 – 28, 2025

MONDAY 22

Arrival Day

MORNING: You’ll board your Federal Air Charter flight from Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport for a one-hour journey to Phinda Private Game Reserve. Upon arrival, our Wild Tomorrow team will welcome you and transfer you on a short drive to Kusasa, your home for the next six days.

PM: After settling into Kusasa and taking some time to relax and refresh, you’ll set out on your first game drive through the breathtaking Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve. This exciting journey immerses you in the rich sights and sounds of the wilderness, offering your first chance to encounter the incredible wildlife that calls this reserve home.

TUESDAY 23

Snare Patrol, Conservation Centre, River Cruise, and Yoga

MORNING: After a peaceful first night at Kusasa, you’ll join our Wild Tomorrow Rangers for a snare patrol across the Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve. During the patrol, you’ll learn firsthand what it takes to protect wildlife from illegally set snares and help ensure their safety.

Following your immersive introduction to conservation, we’ll take you to Wild Tomorrow’s brand-new Conservation Centre — a versatile facility dedicated to advancing conservation efforts across our region. Here, you’ll see how innovative projects and community initiatives come together to protect our natural heritage for future generations.

AFTERNOON: Half of your group will enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Mzinene River, soaking in the natural beauty around you. The other half can choose to explore the reserve or join Rebekka for a relaxing yoga session at Kusasa, perfect for reconnecting with nature and finding calm.

WEDNESDAY 24

Bird Ringing and Tree Planting

MORNING: You’ll rise early to join Kevin, our Reserve Manager, for a unique Bird Ringing experience. This involves carefully placing small identification rings on wild birds that have been gently and safely caught in mist nets earlier that morning. It’s a magical and intimate encounter, offering a rare opportunity to observe these beautiful creatures up close before releasing them back into the wild.

AFTERNOON: You’ll have the meaningful opportunity to actively participate in restoring our critically endangered sand forest. By planting native sand forest tree species, you’ll help revive this fragile ecosystem, supporting biodiversity and ensuring the survival of countless plants and animals that depend on this unique habitat.

THURSDAY 25

Big-5 Safari and Tracking Walk

MORNING: It’s time to experience some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife — including elephants, lions, and rhinos — at one of our neighboring reserves. Seeing these majestic creatures up close is an unforgettable experience, stirring a deep sense of awe and connection to the wild. There truly is nothing like sharing space with such powerful and graceful animals in their natural habitat.

AFTERNOON: You’ll return to Wild Tomorrow’s reserve for a guided tracking walk. No need to worry — the dangerous animals you saw earlier aren’t found here! With an experienced tracker by your side, you’ll discover just how much there is to learn as they bring the surrounding wilderness vividly to life.

FRIDAY 26

Rhino Dehorning, River Cruise, and Yoga

MORNING: You may have heard about the rhino poaching crisis threatening these majestic animals with extinction. Now, you have the chance to help by joining the rhino team that safely removes horns—protecting them before poachers can strike.

Following this powerful experience, you’ll visit the Zululand Rhino Orphanage to meet baby rhinos who have lost their mothers to poaching, underscoring the urgent need for conservation.

AFTERNOON: After such a moving morning, you’ll return to Wild Tomorrow’s reserve for a peaceful afternoon. Those who missed the river cruise on Tuesday will have the chance to enjoy it now. If you’ve already experienced the cruise, you can choose between a relaxing game drive on the reserve or a calming yoga session with Rebekka.

SATURDAY 27

Community Visit and Lake St. Lucia

MORNING: Conserving wild spaces must benefit everyone — including the rural communities living around our protected areas. You’ll have the opportunity to visit one of the community schools supported by Wild Tomorrow, making for a truly meaningful morning.

AFTERNOON: A short distance away lies Lake St. Lucia, an integral part of the wetland system connected to our reserve. You’ll explore this richly biodiverse area, observing a variety of wildlife including pelicans, flamingos, and many other species that call this vibrant habitat home.

SUNDAY 28

Game Drive, Yoga, and Departure

MORNING: Sadly, it’s your last day with us. Before you leave, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a final game drive on the Wild Tomorrow reserve. If you prefer to stay closer to home, Rebekka will be available for a rejuvenating yoga session.

AFTERNOON: It’s time to say goodbye as you take the short drive back to the Phinda airstrip, where your chartered plane will be waiting to take you back to Johannesburg.
